GW3JVB radio software

Small utilities for radio, scanning and SDR.

A place for my Windows, macOS, ESP32 Microcontroller and radio-related software projects. Some are ready to use, some are still being tested, and some are simply ideas being worked through as I come up with ideas and test them. One common theme though, is that they are all free!!

Most of this work sits somewhere between amateur radio, software, serial control, SDR receivers and the small jobs that are awkward until a dedicated tool exists.

I will use this page to collect downloads, notes and project links in one place, separate from the regular blog posts on GW3JVB.uk.

About me

I am John, GW3JVB, an amateur radio operator who enjoys learning, coding and building small tools around the radio gear I use. These apps are free to use; I am not a software company, just a regular radio enthusiast sharing projects that may be useful to others.

Current Projects

Current software projects.

These are the main projects I am working on or making available. They are mostly radio, scanner and SDR utilities, usually built around equipment I use myself.

Windows 11

RigOne

A focused Icom transceiver controller, currently tested with the IC-7300 over USB/COM CI-V. It does not do everything. It does what you need.

  • Direct frequency, mode and VFO control
  • Live or muted audio, PTT and S-meter display
  • Live IC-7300 scope panadapter and waterfall
macOS

Mac125

A macOS app for working with the Uniden UBC125XLT scanner. It is intended to make editing, backing up and writing channels clearer than doing everything by hand.

  • Scanner memory management
  • Backup and restore workflows
  • Polished SwiftUI-style desktop experience
Reference

Hambands

A simple amateur radio band reference area. Useful for quick checks, reminders and possible future integration into other radio tools.

  • Amateur radio band information
  • Quick reference for operating
  • Foundation for future radio tools
Arduino / ESP32

M5Core2 DX Cluster

A touch-friendly DX Cluster display for the M5Stack Core2, with spot history, profile selection, filters, and Thetis/TCI integration for sending selected spots to the radio.

  • Compact live DX spot list and detail views
  • Two startup profiles for different station setups
  • TCI send and replay support for Thetis overlays
Utilities

Small tools and experiments

A home for the useful odds and ends that do not need a grand launch: helper scripts, one-purpose utilities, test apps and technical notes worth keeping findable.

  • Focused tools for awkward little jobs
  • Notes from real hardware testing
  • Shared when they become useful to others

What ties them together

Built from things I actually use.

Radio first Most of these projects start with a radio, scanner, SDR or serial cable on the desk.
Small utilities I prefer focused tools that solve a practical problem without getting in the way.
Real testing Testing is done with real equipment whenever possible, helped by patient radio friends.
Community shaped Suggestions, bug reports and test results from other operators help shape what comes next.

Support development

If you find the software useful, support is very welcome.

These projects are developed voluntarily in my spare time. Donations are never required, but they do help support further development and testing.
